Want More Real Tiktok Followers?

Are you thinking of blocking someone on TikTok? Are you curious about how to block someone on TikTok without them knowing?

Content creators and brands with a wide community often find themselves dealing with certain undesirable characters. Regular users may also receive harassment, spam, or other forms of unwanted attention.

Here’s your complete guide on how to block accounts and other ways to keep your account secure!

Does TikTok Notify a User When Somebody Blocks Them?

Will the person find out when you block them? Sooner or later, the person may find out that you blocked them. But TikTok does not notify people about this.

The blocked user may notice that they’re no longer seeing new content from you on their feed. They can easily figure out you blocked them when they check their Following list and don’t find your name. When they search for you on TikTok and come up with zilch, it will confirm their suspicion.

What happens when you block someone on TikTok? When you block a user, they will no longer be able to view your videos and profile. They won’t be able to follow you and engage with you through likes, comments, or direct messages.

How To Block Someone on TikTok Without Them Knowing: Simple Steps

Sometimes, there are certain types of people we don’t want to interact with on social media. We may not want them to see any of our posts or have the ability to engage with us in any way.

When a person bullies or harasses you or your followers, or if they’re inappropriate in any other way, you should block them. When they fuel conflict or create an adverse environment in your community/comments section, block them. If you identify spam/fake accounts among your followers, block them.

Especially if you’re a regular user and you value your privacy, you have the prerogative to restrict access to your profile.

There are several ways to block a user to protect your privacy and maintain an enjoyable TikTok experience.

If you want to block someone who’s on your Follower list:

  1. Go to your Profile
  2. Tap your Followers
  3. Find the user you want to block, then tap their username
  4. On the user profile page, tap the arrow icon in the top right, then tap the Block button.

Alternatively, you can use TikTok’s search tool to find the user, go to their profile page, and block them.

If you want to block someone via your video’s comments section:

  1. Tap the two parallel lines with two circles in the top right of the comments section, then tap Manage multiple comments
  2. Alternatively, you can long-press on a comment and then tap Manage multiple comments
  3. Select the comments and accounts you want to block. You can bulk block up to 100 users.
  4. Tap More
  5. Tap Block accounts

Other Ways To Restrict Access to Your Account

The block option is just one way to restrict access to your account and reinforce your online safety. There are very few reasons why you won’t be able to block users on TikTok, such as TikTok server issues. And these reasons may also cause other app issues. In any case, you should also explore other options to restrict access to your account.

Report an Account

TikTok encourages everyone to report any account that violates Community Guidelines. When should you report a page? You should report an account if:

  • The user is impersonating you or another person.
  • The user is creating an unsafe environment on TikTok, promoting fake news or conspiracy theories, or inciting hate/prejudice.
  • The user is posting sensitive and mature themes or content that may adversely affect some users’ mental well-being.

Follow these steps to report an account:

  1. Go to the person’s profile and tap the Share icon in the top right.
  2. Tap Report
  3. Tap Report account or Report content
  4. Select a reason
  5. Tap Submit

You can also report someone from the comments section. Just long-press on the comment, then tap Report

Enable Restricted Mode

TikTok’s Restricted Mode limits a user’s exposure to content that may not be suitable for everyone, e.g., posts that contain mature themes.

The feature is especially helpful for regular users who may prefer a “shielded” TikTok experience and underage users who require stricter content regulation. If you’re a regular user, you can turn on Restricted Mode to automatically filter posts that may not be “acceptable” to everyone.

To turn Restricted Mode on or off:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the Menu/three-line icon in the top right.
  2. Select Settings and privacy
  3. Under Content & Display, tap Content preferences
  4. Tap Restricted Mode
  5. Tap Turn on at the bottom.

Take note that if you have more than one TikTok account, you need to turn on Restricted Mode for each account separately. If you have an underage kid using TikTok, you can turn on Restricted Mode via the Family Pairing feature’s parental controls.

Explore Comment Filter Options

Managing your comments section is another way to gain better control over your TikTok experience. You can apply comment filters to automatically screen for and get rid of inappropriate, offensive, and flagged keywords.

TikTok offers several ways to filter comments. You’ll find these options by going to your Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Privacy>Comments

  • Comment care mode. Turn this on to apply stricter filters to automatically screen for inappropriate, offensive, profane, and flagged keywords and comments. This is the ideal anti-bullying safeguard on the platform.
  • Filter all comments. Enable this setting to hide all comments from the public until you approve them.
  • Filter selected comment types. Select what comment types to filter so they won’t appear unless you approve them.
  • Filter keywords. Specify keywords to filter in video comments to keep them hidden unless you approve them.

Protection Against Phishing

Phishing is a common type of cyber attack that tricks and scams people into divulging their personal information.

Often, cybercriminals send fraudulent emails or text messages pretending to represent a trusted organization. They ask potential victims for their credit card details, passwords, social security numbers, and other sensitive data.

Keep in mind that TikTok will never contact you via DM, email, SMS, etc., to ask for your account details. If you believe you’ve received a phishing message, don’t open it nor click on any link within the message.

Third-party sites may also tempt you with freebies, like fans, Coins, views, and more, to gain access to your login info. You should report the phishing attempt to TikTok as soon as possible.

When TikTok’s Support team does reach out to users, it’s only through in-app messaging. TikTok Support may contact you regarding an issue with certain app features. The team may require you to submit documents for verification.

You’ll receive a message in your TikTok Inbox. A pop-up will ask you to accept the message request to verify the message’s legitimacy.

What should you do if you believe your account has been compromised? Take the following steps to reinforce your account security:

  • Change your password. If you’re logged into your account, go to Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Account>Password.
  • Turn on 2-step verification. Go to Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Security & permissions>2-step verification.
  • Manage your devices. Go to Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Security & permissions>Manage devices.
  • Check your security alerts. Go to Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Security & permissions>Security alerts

Block Accounts If You Must

Don’t hesitate to block a user if you feel uncomfortable with their interactions, harassed, or threatened in any other way. Block an account if you believe it’s fake and they’re sending you unwanted messages.

Take all necessary precautions to protect your online personal space and digital well-being.
