Want More Real TikTok Followers?

The ubiquitous phrase “Link in bio” has amazing potential to drive results. Whether you want to increase website traffic, generate sales, or boost engagement, a clickable link offers more opportunities for connection. Learn how to put a link in your TikTok bio to get more out of your TikTok network.

How To Put a Link in Your Bio on TikTok

If you want to drive traffic to your website, sell a product, promote an event, or generate more engagement for a post, posting a link is the way to do it. However, TikTok does not allow clickable links in video captions. Adding an active link in the bio section is also limited to business accounts or personal accounts that meet specific requirements, i.e., having at least 1,000 followers.

If you already have a business account, follow these simple steps to add a link to your bio:

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Tap the Edit Profile button under your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add website, then input your link.
  4. Tap Save.

Again, adding a website is only available to registered businesses and qualified personal accounts. The link does not actually go within your bio section, but you can still paste a link in this section if you don’t meet TikTok’s requirements. However, the link won’t be active — it won’t be clickable. People using TikTok on a desktop computer can copy the link and paste it into another browser. But this may seem like too much work for some.

TikTok also allows business accounts to feature other business information on their TikTok page. You can add any of the following:

  • Action buttons: email, phone number, address, or app link
  • Leads form to collect customer information
  • Category to help users identify your business quickly

If you have a personal account and want to switch to a business account, the steps are as follows:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the Menu icon in the upper right.
  2. Tap Settings and Privacy.
  3. Select Account.
  4. Tap Switch to Business Account.
  5. Follow the instructions to complete the switch.

When To Add a Link in Bio

Many content creators use their bio section to write a short introduction about themselves. If you’re able to add a link to your profile, it appears right beneath your bio. So, when should you add a link to your bio?

  • If you want to immediately direct profile visitors to a landing page, website, another social media page, blog, etc.,
  • If you need to drive website traffic, sales, or newsletter sign-ups for a brand collaboration,
  • If you need to direct your followers to a web store or a TikTok Shop as part of a promotional campaign,
  • If you’re promoting an event or a special offer via an external link or another TikTok or social media post

Where Else Can You Add Links on TikTok?

Are there other places on TikTok that allow clickable links?

You can add product links to organic TikTok videos if you have a TikTok Shop. Here’s how:

  1. Create your video straight from the app.
  2. On the Post module, click Add Link.
  3. Select Products.
  4. From the Showcase module, click Add, then select the product you want to feature in the video.
  5. Enter a Product name and click Add.
  6. Repeat the previous steps for each Product Link you want to add to your video.
  7. Finish creating your video and click Post.

TikTok has a separate review process for videos with product links. Once TikTok approves your video, the product link will appear just above your username. Tapping the product link will take users to a Product Details Page where they can make a purchase or learn more about the product.

What about hashtags? Remember that hashtags are instantly searchable, i.e., when you tap on a hashtag, it will take you to that hashtag’s main page. You can hack this functionality by creating a custom hashtag for a post, event, or campaign. The best way to do this is by adding a hashtag sticker to your video. Don’t forget to prompt users to tap on the hashtag to learn more.

More Options To Connect With Your Audiences

Within the Edit profile page, you can also link your various social media profiles. Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Tap the Edit profile button.
  3. Under Social, tap Instagram to link your Instagram account.
  4. Tap YouTube to add your YouTube URL.
  5. Tap Twitter to add your Twitter page.

Conversely, you can promote your TikTok profile and posts on other channels. Here are your options:

  1. Share your TikTok profile with a TikTok QR code or via the Share profile button beneath your profile pic.
  2. Embed your TikTok URL into a blog, website, etc.
  3. Use a TikTok post’s share function to repost to Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Stories, WhatsApp, email, etc.
  4. Copy a post’s URL to share it outside TikTok.
  5. Add your TikTok link to your Facebook and Instagram bios.

  • Have fun with it! Add an emoji or two, as long as they suit your character.
  • Use a powerful call to action if you’re a go-get-’em type of brand.
  • Use a quote. Find a TikTok quote that sums up your values perfectly.
  • Make sure your bio pairs well with your TikTok profile image.
