How Do I Get My Permanently Banned TikTok Account Back? And More FAQ

How do I get my permanently banned TikTok account back? The good news is that you can still access your banned account using the usual login method. The bad news is that after logging in, you can only download your personal data and check the reason for the ban. If you feel that the ban was a mistake, you can also submit an appeal.

Let’s answer other frequently asked questions about account bans on TikTok.

What Can Get You Banned on TikTok?

The following violations of TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service can lead to an account ban:

  • You don’t meet TikTok’s minimum age or other requirements, i.e., you created a TikTok account by falsifying information about yourself.
  • You purposefully created your account to impersonate another person or entity and deceive other users.
  • Your account has a severe violation from:
    • Posting, promoting, or facilitating youth exploitation or child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
    • Sharing violent content or promoting/threatening violence in some other way.
    • Posting or promoting inappropriate content depicting non-consensual sex acts.
    • Posting content that facilitates illegal activities, such as human trafficking.
    • Posting content that depicts real-world torture.
  • You created or are using another TikTok account to intentionally avoid penalty restrictions or a permanent ban on your original account.
  • Your account has reached the strike threshold for multiple violations for a certain TikTok policy or feature.
  • Users have submitted multiple reports/instances of Intellectual Property Policy violations against your account.

TikTok also has strict policies that protect the community against interactions and content that may cause emotional or psychological harm. These include hate speech, bullying, and sensitive/controversial content that may be problematic through repeated and frequent viewer exposure.

What Happens When You Commit a Minor Violation?

When you commit a minor violation, the following usually happens:

  1. TikTok removes the content associated with the violation.
  2. TikTok sends you a notification about the content violation and a first warning against committing the same violation. You’ll also receive instructions on how to submit an appeal if the content removal was a mistake.
  3. Depending on the violation, TikTok may temporarily impose certain restrictions on your account, e.g., restricted access to LIVE or direct messages.

When you commit the same violation after your first warning, you’ll receive a strike against your account. TikTok violations fall under different policy areas and features. The maximum threshold for any single policy/feature is usually three strikes. After three strikes, your account is out, i.e., TikTok may permanently ban your account.

Keep in mind that TikTok may permanently ban your account “for repeated violations or depending on the severity of a single violation.” It’s also important to know that each strike expires after 90 days and no longer comes into play in case of a potential account ban.

If you’ve received a message that says, “Following too fast,” TikTok may also temporarily disable your account. The penalty lasts 24 hours. This is one of the platform’s countermeasures against spamming.

If TikTok detects fake followers in your account and suspects you of buying them, an account ban typically does not follow. TikTok will remove the fake accounts, and you may experience zero to minimal reach and visibility for a short period.

You can view a record of your violations in your Account Status.

How To Get a Banned TikTok Account Back: What Are Your Options?

When TikTok bans your account, you’ll receive a banner notification when you log back in. Wondering how to get a banned TikTok account back? Here are your options.

How To Contact TikTok About Banned Account: What Are the Steps?

Committing a severe violation or multiple violations within a single policy can lead to an account ban. TikTok will send you a warning when you’re on the verge of a potential permanent ban, such as after committing multiple violations.

When the ban pushes through, you’ll receive a banner notification informing you of the ban.

If you want to appeal the decision and get your account back, here’s how to contact TikTok about your banned account:

  1. Open the notification informing you of your account’s banned status.
  2. Tap Appeal.
  3. Follow the instructions to submit an appeal.

Take note that if your violation is related to content, deleting the violative content will not remove the violation. While you’re waiting for the appeal result, don’t delete the content/your account. If TikTok approves your appeal, the platform will reinstate the content/your account.

TikTok Account Banned Appeal: How Long Does It Take?

After submitting a TikTok account banned appeal, how long does the process take? Depending on the reason for the ban, you can receive a response between five minutes and 72 hours. However, some users have reported waiting weeks or months for a response.

How To Get a TikTok Account Banned: Will the User Know Who You Are?

What should you do if you encounter a user who’s impersonating another person, posting inappropriate content/comments, or creating an unsafe environment on TikTok? If you’re wondering how to get a TikTok account banned, you can start by reporting the account.

Don’t worry; the account you’re reporting won’t find out who you are. Take note, however, that your report won’t necessarily lead to an account ban. The penalty they’ll receive will depend on their overall account status.

Follow these steps to report an account via the TikTok app:

  1.  Go to the person’s profile page
  2. Tap the Share button in the top right.
  3. Tap Report
  4. Tap Report account
  5. Select a reason for the report, then tap Submit

To report an account via a web browser:

  1. Go to the person’s profile page
  2. Tap the More options button in the top right.
  3. Tap Report
  4. Tap Report account
  5. Select a reason for the report, then tap Submit

How To Get TikTok Account Unbanned: Can You Withdraw a Report?

Want to know how to get a TikTok account unbanned? If it’s your account, you’ll need to submit an appeal to TikTok, as explained above. Depending on your violation, TikTok may ask you to provide proof that shows the account ban was a mistake.

What if the reason for the account ban is because you’re underage, for example? If it’s a mistake, TikTok may request an ID that shows your birthdate.

What if you reported somebody by mistake? Is there a way to undo it? Unfortunately, there’s no way to un-report an account. If the account did not commit a violation, TikTok will verify this, and the account won’t suffer any consequences.
