Just Give Me Money TikTok Trend: How Does It Work?

If there’s a new trending challenge online, odds are good that it started on TikTok! From viral lip-sync battles to addictive dance challenges, fun games, and hilarious dares, trends quickly catch fire on the platform.

Among the biggest ones this year, so far, is the “Just give me my money” challenge. It’s more of a funny video prank that has tricked even celebrities and pro athletes!

The challenge involves two or more people who are in on the prank and one unsuspecting participant. The participants may stand in a line or circle. They take turns saying “Just me my money” in a funny voice (with the help of TikTok’s Voice filter). They may also make silly hand gestures.

After each participant takes their turn, everybody else enthusiastically applauds. Many videos also use sound effects to add the applause. The unknowing “victim” goes last. And after they say, “Just give me my money!” awkward silence follows.

A hilarious and cringey example of the viral prank shows an unsuspecting Mike Tyson shouting, “Give me my f****** money!” Another one with Idris Elba shows the actor walking out on his daughters.

Participants can also try to outdo each other and make each declaration as over-the-top as possible. Real or exaggerated enthusiasm after each declaration is crucial to the prank. Shouting and jumping make the complete silence at the end funnier. Halfhearted cheer won’t provide the proper buildup to the unexpected plot twist and unpredictable reaction from the “victim”!

Top 4 TikTok Challenges

Did the “Give me my money” challenge get you amped up and ready to try other viral challenges? Here’s a short list of the top challenges on the platform! Enjoy watching the hilarious videos featuring these trends.

1. Don’t Rush Challenge

The rules are simple. Take a video of yourself putting on makeup. Then, use a fast-forward effect and show the hilarious result of your “rushed” makeup job. The more messed up your makeup, the better!

2. Blinding Lights Dance Challenge

This dance choreography is a lot of fun to learn, especially if you’re a fan of The Weeknd. The accompanying Blinding Lights song is one of the artist’s biggest hits. The dance challenge had millions of people enjoying it even more.

The footwork looks tricky — it resembles the traditional Irish step dance. And some people have adapted the step dance style when performing the Blinding Lights dance routine. Gather your family and friends and give it a try!

3. Very Demure, Very Mindful Trend

Based on satire, this viral trend continues to make the rounds on TikTok. Creator Jools Lebron started the “Very demure, very mindful” video, making fun of stereotypical ideas of femininity in the workplace.

The original video has the description, “How to be demure and modest and respectful at the workplace.” Jools goes on to say stuff like, “See how I look very presentable? The way I came to the interview is the way I go to the job.” Throughout the video, Jools also speaks in a very demure, reserved, and modest voice.

The trend, which started in early August of this year, has since taken on a life of its own! Instead of poking fun at the “feminine” stereotype, lots of other creators are celebrating being very demure, very mindful, and very cutesy!

4. The Bye, Bye, Bye Dance Trend is Not Yet Saying Goodbye

Lots of music from past decades have made a huge comeback — thanks to blockbuster movies and hit TV shows.

Stranger Things revived the ‘80s song “Running Up That Hill” and introduced Kate Bush to Gen Zers. The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie featured a whole cassette tape (Google it!) of songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

More recently, the movie Deadpool & Wolverine solo dance sequence in the opening credits resurrected NSYNC’s ‘90s hit “Bye, Bye, Bye.” And TikTokers worldwide have been spawning their own versions of the dance.
