During a LIVE’s Match mode, creators basically “solicit” Gifts from their fans. Each creator can collect more Gifts by performing a task or showcasing a talent. You may also find TikTok LIVE Battles, where creators engage in an entertaining verbal match.

How Do TikTok Battles Work?

How do TikTok Battles work? In a nutshell, one creator initiates a battle via the LIVE Match feature. Battling creators make arrangements and preparations beforehand, of course. They also inform their fans of the upcoming match so they can help their favorite creators win by sending virtual gifts.

Note that not everyone with access to LIVE also has access to the LIVE Match feature. To check if you have the feature, follow these steps:

Tap the Create button and select LIVE at the bottom of the screen.
Tap Go LIVE and look for the intertwined blue and red circles with +Hosts beneath them.
Once you’re live, you should find an icon showing red and blue boxing gloves at the bottom left. This is the LIVE Match icon.

When you’re ready for the real battle, follow the steps above and this final step:

Tap the boxing gloves to start your LIVE Battle with another creator.

During the match, viewers can purchase Gifts in-app with TikTok Coins during the LIVE. They can select from a wide variety of Gifts and send these to their favorite creator in real time during the stream. Different Gifts are represented by different graphics/emojis and have different Coin values.

As viewers send Gifts, they appear on the LIVE screen. Creators may engage in entertaining “trash talk” to earn more Gifts. Or they may perform LIVE challenges, which range from fun to insane!

At the end of the battle, the creator who collects the highest total value of Gifts wins!

Can You Earn TikTok Battles Money?

Do players earn TikTok battles money from the gifts they receive? Does the winner simply get bragging rights?

Keep in mind that TikTok Gifts are not convertible to cash. Fans use real money to purchase Coins, which they use to buy Gifts. But you can’t get the Gifts’ cash value in Coins after you receive them.
