Are your TikTok comments not showing on other people’s posts? Issues with comments are common on social media. But why exactly do comments on videos disappear? Is it a temporary error due to a bug in the app or something else?

Why Are My TikTok Comments Not Showing Up?

“Why are my TikTok comments not showing up?” Based on similar instances of TikTok comments not loading in the past, the most likely cause is a bug in the app. If this is the case, you’ll have to wait until TikTok fixes the issue. Reporting the problem can help TikTok resolve problems like this faster.

Follow these steps to report a problem to TikTok:

  1. Tap the profile icon at the bottom.
  2. Tap the 3-line icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Settings and privacy
  4. Scroll down and, under Support & About, tap Report a problem
  5. Select Interaction, then tap Comment
  6. Select Unable to load comments or Unable to post comments
  7. Complete the steps in the app.

TikTok Comments Not Showing: Other Potential Causes

There may be other reasons for TikTok comments not showing up. Let’s go through each one.

  1. Poor internet connection. Make sure you’re connected to the internet. If you’re using public WiFi to browse TikTok, poor connection may be why TikTok is not showing comments. Try switching to data or finding a better connection. If you’re at home, try restarting your modem.
  2. TikTok app cache is full. A full cache may cause the app to lag. Clear your TikTok cache by going to your Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Free up space>Clear cache
  3. Deleted or filtered comment. Content creators can choose to delete inappropriate or offensive comments from their posts. If your comment contains keyword/s the creator specified for filtering, they will not be visible to others unless the creator approves them. The creator can also report comments that may violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines
  4. Creator filters all comments. If comments are not showing on TikTok, the creator may be filtering all comments. The comments will remain invisible unless the creator approves them.
  5. Creator turned off commenting. When a creator turns off commenting on their video/s, all previous comments also disappear.

When you experience TikTok app issues, we also recommend taking the following steps:

  1. Close the TikTok app and all other background apps. Restart your device. Then, relaunch TikTok.
  2. Log out and log back in.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall TikTok. Remember that if you have TikTok drafts, you’ll lose them when you uninstall the app. Make sure to save them to your device first.
  4. Check for TikTok app updates. Go to the Google Play Store or App Store and search for TikTok. Tap the Update button if it appears. Installing the latest app update often fixes compatibility issues.

How To Manage Your Comments Section

As a creator, managing your comments section is crucial to managing your TikTok community. You can set the privacy settings for one or all your videos, limit who can comment on your posts, or filter your comments.

To manage comments on all your videos, go to Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Privacy>Comments

  • Tap Comments, then select Everyone, Friends, or No one
  • Tap the toggle for Filter all comments so that all recent comments will require your approval before appearing on your post.
  • Tap Filter selected comment types to select what types of comments to filter.
  • Tap Filter keywords to enable it and add up to 100 keywords and hashtags to filter.

To manage the comments section of a single video you’ve already posted:

  1. Go to your Profile
  2. Tap the video you want to update.
  3. Tap More options/the three dots in the bottom right corner.
  4. Scroll to the right on the bottom navigation bar, then tap Privacy
  5. Tap the toggle beside Allow comments to turn commenting on or off.

Take note that when you turn on commenting for a single video, the setting for who can comment on your videos automatically applies.

To delete or report comments:

  1. Tap Comments on your post.
  2. Long-press on a comment, then tap Delete
  3. Alternatively, you can tap Manage multiple comments to delete comments in bulk.
  4. Select all comments you want to delete.
  5. Tap Delete at the bottom, or tap More and tap Report comments

Keep Those Comments Coming

The more comments you get, the higher your visibility on more feeds. Make sure everyone can comment on your posts, and keep those comments coming! Like and reply to every comment, if possible.

Do it right away so the commenter can post another response. This way, you’ll always have a busy comments section.

At the same time, it’s important to moderate what people say on your posts. You need to maintain positive vibes and remove any comment that may trigger a negative chain reaction. Keeping things friendly and fun is the best way to encourage more viewers to join conversations around your content.

Commenting on other people’s videos helps you build connections within your community. It also helps TikTok better understand your content preferences. Your TikTok comments not showing may be a good or bad thing, depending on the reason.

If you didn’t post anything inappropriate or offensive or violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines, you have nothing to worry about.
