Have you been having issues with comments on TikTok? Are you wondering, “Why can’t I comment on TikTok? Can I block someone from commenting on my TikTok posts?”

Read on as we answer some frequently asked questions about comments-related issues on the platform. Let’s get started!

Why Can’t I Comment on TikTok?

If you’re unable to comment on somebody else’s posts, the first thing you should check is your internet connection. A slow connection can cause delays in comment posting.

If you’re also experiencing slow loading times while browsing your feed, it’s likely that the problem is your connection.

Another likely reason is that the creator has limited commenting on their post, i.e., only their friends can comment. It’s also possible that they turned off commenting for the post. You can do the same for all your posts via your privacy settings. You can also manage the comments section of individual posts.

Why Can’t I Comment on People’s LIVEs on TikTok?

You can’t comment on their LIVE because the content creator probably turned off commenting or muted comments on their LIVE.

They can mute all comments for a specific length of time during the stream or from specific viewers.

It’s also possible that the LIVE creator is filtering comments. They may be filtering all comments or comments that contain specific keywords. In either case, the filtered comments won’t appear on the thread unless the creator approves them.

LIVE creators can filter or block unkind, spammy, or community-flagged comments. If they’re blocking certain types of comments, e.g., offensive comments and hate speech, these comments won’t appear to viewers during the LIVE.

Are you wondering, “What are community-flagged comments?” These are “comments that the TikTok community previously blocked, muted, or reported for being unkind, spammy, or offensive.”

Why Is TikTok Not Allowing Comments on My Post?

Are you receiving zero comments on your post when you’ve always received good engagement from followers? The reason could be a possible shadow ban. Restrictions in your comments section may be part of the shadow ban.

Did you recently buy TikTok comments to manipulate your metrics and boost your engagement? TikTok is quick to penalize accounts that engage in bot/spam activities. Additionally, the platform immediately gets rid of the fake views, followers, or engagement it detects.

Why Am I Blocked From Commenting on TikTok?

TikTok may temporarily limit your ability to comment on posts if you’ve been commenting too quickly on too many videos. Especially if you’ve been copying and pasting repetitive comments, TikTok may flag your activity as spam.

If you used explicit language or words that have been community-tagged previously, the video creator/other users may report your comment. The creator may also block you from commenting on their posts.

How Do I Fix a Comment Glitch on TikTok?

If comments on videos are not loading or refreshing, try the following five steps:

  1. Clear your app cache. Go to your Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Cache&Cellular>Free up space>Clear cache
  2. Close the app. Make sure to also close all apps running in the background. Relaunch TikTok to see if the comments are loading.
  3. Turn your WiFi connection off. Switch to data if you’re using public WiFi and see if this fixes the problem. Or find a stronger WiFi connection. If you’re at home, restart your modem, then Try TikTok again.
  4. Check for a TikTok update. Go to the Google Play Store or Apple Store search for TikTok. An Update button will appear if one is available. Update your app, then try TikTok again.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall TikTok. You can also turn your device off and turn it back on before or after reinstalling the TikTok app.

If the problem persists, open a browser and see if TikTok is experiencing downtime/server issues. If this is the case, you just have to wait it out.

However, if results show you that TikTok is currently not experiencing any issues, you can submit a report to TikTok support. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Tap the Menu/three-line icon in the top right.
  3. Select Settings and privacy
  4. Scroll to the bottom, and under Support & About, tap Report a problem
  5. Tap Interaction>Comment.
  6. Select the issue you’re experiencing.
  7. Complete the steps to finish your report.

How To Keep Comments Coming and Generate High Engagement

How do you stimulate quality conversations in your video’s comments section? Creating content worth talking about is the easy part. There are tons of ways to identify topics your target audience is currently interested in.

The tricky part is bringing together people whose shared or clashing perspectives will get a healthy back-and-forth going.

Needless to say, don’t post controversial or sensitive topics just for the sake of engagement through conflict. Your post may become ineligible for For You feeds, FYF ( also known as the For You page or FYP). TikTok may also restrict commenting on your post or impose a shadow ban on your account.

Did you forget to turn on commenting for your post or change the audience to everybody? Why can’t I comment on TikTok? This is an issue you don’t want your viewers to experience, particularly if they’re trying to comment on your posts. Find out immediately if the problem is on your end.
