Creator Rewards Program: New Monetization Opportunity
Bite-sized content that is less than a minute long is perfect for quick, on-the-go entertainment. But longer videos deliver more satisfaction. According to TikTok, users spend 50% of their time watching longer videos. Viewership of these videos increased by almost 40% in the last six months. To encourage more creators to meet the demand for longer content, TikTok recently launched its Creator Rewards Program.

Creativity Program Beta: Longer Videos for Higher Rewards
In early 2023, TikTok launched the invite-only Creativity Program Beta in the U.S. TikTok designed the program “to help creators foster their creativity, generate higher revenue potential, and unlock more exciting, real-world opportunities.”
The monetization program encouraged creators to share longer content for more rewards. This was part of TikTok’s response to users’ increased interest in long-form content. To qualify for the program, creators had to:
- Have at least 10K followers in the last 30 days.
- Have 100K authentic video views in the last 30 days.
To qualify for monetization, TikTok requires creators in the program to create videos that are longer than one minute. The program marked TikTok’s biggest step away from its well-known short-form videos.
The program proved to be highly successful. TikTok reported over 250% increase in total creator revenue and double the number of creators making $50K a month.
By December 2023, the Creativity Program fully replaced the TikTok Creator Fund in the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany.
New Creator Rewards Program
In March of this year, TikTok officially pushed the Creativity Program off the beta phase and rebranded it as the new Creator Rewards Program. The program’s primary purpose remains the same: to reward high-quality, original, and longer content.
Who Is Eligible for the Revamped Rewards Program?
Here are the eligibility requirements for the new rewards program:
- Creators must be at least 18 years old.
- Creators must have at least 10K followers in the last 30 days.
- Creators must have at least 100K views in the last 30 days.
- Creators must have a personal account in good standing where the Creator Rewards Program is available. Business accounts are not qualified for the program.
Four Key Areas of the Optimized Rewards Program
TikTok will reward creators in the new creator monetization program based on the following four key metrics:
- Originality. The content must be unique to the creator. It must showcase a point of view or creative thought process that resonates with the creator’s community.
- Play duration. The program rewards creators who produce highly engaging content — based on watch time and finish rate.
- Audience engagement. Total video likes, comments, and shares increase the creator’s overall content value.
- Search value. Content focusing on in-demand search topics (based on Creator Search Insights) gets a higher search value.
The program also considers an account’s ad value, which is based on their community’s ad watch time.
Program Insights Through Your Creator Rewards Dashboard
Analytics for the rewards program offers more customization features and analytical tools. Content creators in the program can access their analytics through their Creator Rewards dashboard, which offers the following insights:
- Content performance numbers
- Estimated rewards
- Qualified views
- Program eligibility
- Dedicated pages for RPM (revenue per thousand impressions) for each video
- Dedicated pages for qualified video views for each video
- Records of previous and upcoming earnings
- The Creator Academy
More Ways to Monetize Your Content on TikTok
If you’re not yet eligible for the rewards program, here are other monetization options you can explore:

- TikTok Series. Create a collection of premium and exclusive content behind a paywall. Viewers can purchase access through your profile or direct-in-video links.
- Receive virtual Gifts to earn Diamonds. Encourage your fans to send Gifts through your feed videos or during a LIVE. The more Gifts you receive, the higher your chances of earning Diamonds from TikTok. Diamonds are convertible to cash.
