Why Is My TikTok Upload Page Not Loading: Common Reasons and Solutions

If you’re wondering, “Why won’t my TikTok post load on the platform?” there are several reasons for this. When your TikTok video is finally ready but you’re unable to post, the first step you should take is to save your work immediately. You don’t want to deal with a missing video on top of your uploading issues.

Your next step is to figure out what the problem is. Is it an app glitch, an issue with internal links, or did you do something wrong? Perhaps you’re simply experiencing a poor internet connection. Let’s find out what the most likely culprits are for TikTok upload issues and what you can do.

TikTok Post Button Not Working

If you’ve just prepared a great video, tried to upload it to the platform, and are left thinking“Why won’t TikTok let me post?” it’s probably not your fault; it’s the app. It’s normal for apps to experience some downtime once in a while. This typically happens when an app introduces a new feature or a software update.

Software bugs or coding errors are common technical problems that can lead to app crashes or certain app features not working properly. Unfortunately, all you can do if your TikTok is not working is wait until the problem is resolved.

But there are also steps you can take on your end if you encounter the following issues:

  • App glitches: TikTok may be experiencing some downtime. Glitches may also occur after the launch of a new feature. To make sure you don’t lose your work, save the video to your Drafts folder in the meantime. Or tap the “Back arrow” to go back to the editing page. Then tap the “Down arrow” to see more options and select Save video to save it to your device.
  • Outdated app software: If you’ve been using an old version of the app, you’ll eventually experience issues with some of its functions. Go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Find the TikTok app product page. You’ll see an “Install Update” button if one is available. Tap it.

TikTok Upload Page Is Blank

After painstaking video editing, the last thing you want to think about is, “Why is my TikTok not posting?” Did you hit the “Post” button, and all you got was a blank page?

This sort of thing doesn’t happen a lot. But you should make it a habit to save your work in your drafts before posting. It’s an extra step that can save you you from having to redo your work.

Here are the most common causes of the upload page on TikTok going blank:

  • App issues: Again, technical issues with the app itself are the most likely cause. Try closing the app and all other open apps on your device. Restart your device for good measure. Then, relaunch the app to see if everything’s working normally. If you experience the same problem, report it to TikTok
  • Slow internet connection: Do you see a blank screen when you go to the upload or “Post” page? It may also be because of a slow internet connection. Try opening other sites to check if they load normally. Slow loading times definitely point to connectivity problems. Restart your modem, and if the problem persists, contact your service provider.

Couldn’t Upload Photos on TikTok

You can upload a maximum of 35 files to TikTok. Once you reach the maximum, you won’t be able to add more. Here are other reasons you’re unable to upload photos:

  • File size is too big: The maximum file size you can upload depends on your device’s operating system. If you’re using an Android device, the maximum file size you can upload is 72 MB. iOS users can upload up to 287.6 MB. If you’re uploading via the TikTok website, you can upload up to 1 GB.
  • App cache needs to be cleared: Your cache stores temporary data to facilitate faster loading times and use less data. However, a full cache can also cause slow app performance or essential functions to crash. Clear your cache by going to your “Profile>Menu>Settings and privacy>Free up space.”
  • Corrupted video files: TikTok videos can be in various formats, such as MP4, MOV, and HEVC (H. 265). However, if you transfer your videos from one device to another before uploading them to TikTok, there can be different forms of video damage. It is better to upload your video directly to TikTok from your device to avoid this issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my TikTok uploading but not showing up?

How quickly your video uploads may depend on its length and the type of edits you make. Longer videos and adding multiple effects/filters may take longer to upload. When you receive a notification that says your video has been uploaded, but you don’t see it, report it to TikTok.

Is there a way to retrieve my work if it wasn’t uploaded successfully?

Check your TikTok Drafts. TikTok should automatically save your video to your Drafts folder if you’re unable to post it. This also applies when you exit the editing page, post page, or the app without posting your video.

Why is my TikTok lagging when I upload?

Your TikTok is probably lagging because you have a slow internet connection or a full cache. Check the speed of your internet, and if it is not that, then clear our cache by following these steps:

1. Log into TikTok and click on “Me.”
2. Go to the TikTok Settings by tapping on the three dots on your profile
3. In the Settings, click on “Clear Cache.”
4. Reload the TikTok app.
